Live Oaks Inn, a Daytona Beach bed and breakfast, sits on land once owned by Matthias Day Jr., the “Day” in Daytona Beach. Day was a native Ohioan who moved to Florida in the 1870 and began to purchase, survey, and prepare land for resale.
Mr. Day sold the property to Riley Peck who built the original home at 444 South Beach St. in 1871. Peck’s brother, Myron, built 448 South Beach St in 1881. The building at 444 South Beach St is the oldest standing house and garden in Daytona Beach. Today, both houses comprise Live Oaks Inn.

Run as a bed and breakfast from 1989 until 2006, the Live Oaks Inn sat empty for a year and a half – until discovered by the DiPietro family from Rhode Island. When they set their eyes on the historic small hotel in June 2007, it was love at first sight. They purchased the Daytona Beach B&B property in early October 2007 and restored its 14 guestrooms and many common areas to their original beauty.

The dining room and bar, currently used for central Florida business banquets and Daytona Beach weddings, will undergo renovations in 2008 and open as a restaurant later in the year, or early 2009. Future plans include a luxurious spa and perhaps a few more guestrooms.
